A stunning amenity roof terrace completed at the 135 Bishopsgate redevelopment.

Situated next to Liverpool Street Station, 135 Bishopsgate is one of three buildings that form a 350 metre continuous frontage along Bishopsgate. Recently, the building has transformed into an architecturally striking new commercial and retail space, by architects Fletcher Priest. As a result, this has seen the two-story reception area replacing the original balustrading and staircases with a new public realm of landscaped steps. As well as this, it includes new ramps for improved access. Additionally, three terraces on levels 7, 8 and 10 provide 3,500 square feet of shared rooftop amenities for occupants.

Valley Provincial were contracted by interior fit-out specialist BW Workspace Experts to undertake the roof garden works. The scheme used composite decking elevated onto a Raaft support system and several bespoke planters. All were specifically supplied by terrace system specialists Kinley. Due to the exposed position of some terrace areas, wind uplift was thus considered a potential challenge. So, to overcome this, we use tie-down clips to secure the decking to the Raaft terrace system. Subsequently, this incorporated extruded aluminium joists and plastic pedestals to ensure stable, level walkways as well as seating areas.

Evidently, the completed roof garden looks stunning. Undoubtedly it will be a huge attraction for the building occupants.
